The Original, One and Only Smiley-Uke TM

The idea for the Smiley-Uke TM came to me as I was preparing to make a very serious,
traditional ukelele for an upcoming meeting of the New England Luthiers Group.
My plans were thwarted.
While chatting on MS Internet Messenger with a fellow luthier,
I was noticing the smiley icons and thought, " wouldn't that make a Cool Uke!".
The idea was born.

Here is the prototype for the Smiley-Uke TM :

I offer two basic models of the Smiley-Uke TM , and a "custom" option.

Basic Model:

Concert Scale (15")
Yellowheart top and headstock veneer
Mahogany back and sides
Ebony "Smile" bridge and fretboard
Mahogany neck.
Chrome Gotoh tuners.

Deluxe Model:

Concert Scale (15")
Yellowheart top and headstock veneer, Bound with flamed Acacia
Flamed Acacia (like Koa) Back and sides with purfling on sides and back.
Bound Ebony fretboard with purfling lines
Ebony Bridge
Mahogany neck.
Gold Gotoh Tuners

Options :

5-piece laminated neck, choice of woods.
Custom inlay
Bound Flamed Maple fretboard - as in prototype.
Different scale lengths / sizes.
Other wood combinations available upon request.
