News in the D.E.Williams Guitars world
I will
be adding three new models to my repertoire of guitars in the near future:
Squareneck Resonator
Based loosely
on a Scheerhorn L-body instrument, the Squareneck Resonator will be a nice
addition to my line of guitars. Enamored by the playing of Jerry Douglas,
I had to learn to play a resonator guitar.
I figured the best way to start was to get a resonator guitar. But, being
a luthier, I saw no reason to buy one when I could build one!
Currently, the prototype for my Model 1 Resonator is nicely in the works.
It is a flamed maple body with a birdseye maple center wedge on both top and
back. The scale is 25.5". I'm having such fun with building this that
I will be starting a couple more of them soon to sell via this website.
OO Style
I am adding a OO sized instrument to the line. I am currently making a prototype OO with a redwood top, East Indian Rosewood back and sides, with Herringbone appointments on the top, and a "zipper" back strip. This instrument is a 12-fret model, 25.4" scale. The neck will be a bit wider than normal, so that it will be attractive to fingerstyle players.
Size 5 Terz Guitar
Inspired by the upcoming Martin "Sting" model Terz guitar, I will be offering a guitar based loosely on this guitar. Standard appointments will be mahogany back and sides, with either a cedar top or a redwood top. Other woods available in a custom order, including red spruce and Brazilian Rosewood.
